Tobacco Tax - Proposition 56

Tobacco tax measure officially qualifies as Prop. 56 for Nov. ballot

The California Secretary of State officially validated the tobacco tax measure for the November ballot last week and announced that it will be Proposition 56.  The measure will be listed sixth on the ballot out of the 17 measures that have qualified (Prop. 51 – Prop. 67), the most on a ballot since 2000 when 20 measures qualified.

We are excited for the campaign ahead and once again we thank all of our members who helped collect signatures to qualify Proposition 56. Please take a moment to sign up in support and say, “I'm in,” for the Yes on 56 campaign by clicking here.

The deadline for the public to qualify measures has passed, but the Legislature is still considering adding more. The Legislature has begun its month-long summer recess and will return in August for the final month of session. For a list of all propositions by number, click here.
